Navajyothi Centre, the Children's wing of Kusumagiri Hospital is a pioneer institution established in the early 90s at a time when the awareness of mental health problems in children was lacking. Over the years it has grown manifold catering to young people and families not just in Kerala but other states in India as well as expats settled around the world. Ours is a specialist service that focuses on the needs of young people including developmental, academic, emotional and behavioural difficulties all of which have a direct bearing on their mental health. We believe in creating therapeutic partnerships with the parents, formulating achievable goals with the children and providing a multidisciplinary framework for both assessments and therapies. We seek to expand our remit by providing wrap around care to young children so that families can continue their lives with less disruption. We are committed to reducing stigma in relation to mental health, fostering inclusion and diversity and promoting practices that enhance the mental wealth of children and families which has a direct bearing on the society as a whole.
